A New Era is Coming to Cittadella
On June 27, 2021 by Jake IovineWith Iori’s retirement and Venturato’s departure, a new age is coming to the Tombolato. This will be a big summer transfer window upcoming for Stefano Marchetti, as we will have to invest into quality players, as the competition in Serie B is be even greater.
After Bocalon scored in the final minute at the Stadio Luigi Penzo, it was clear that Roberto Venturato’s future was in jeopardy. The Australian born manager had been getting recognized and offers from Serie A clubs, and with Cittadella’s failed attempt in the final, many thought he would be on his way out.
That is what happen. After about a month since the Venezia defeat, Venturato told the Cittadella front office that he would not want to continue coaching for Cittadella, despite having one year left on his contract.
Immediately after the final as well, club captain and legend Manuel Iori was in doubt to continue playing for another year. After the 19/20 season, he decided to stay one more year, and try to help push Cittadella up to the promise land. Unfortunately, despite playing one of the best games of his career, fell short of the target in Venice.
What is next? According to reports, Edorardo Gorini will be promoted as head coach. Luigi Cuppone will be arriving this upcoming year, and a few days ago Cittadella announced the signing of Andrea Danzi, who would play as Iori’s role. Mirko Antonucci is also expected to be announced very soon, which would be a huge signing, as Mirko does have Serie A and Champions League experience with Roma. A very interesting couple of weeks is coming up, as the team gets ready for the next season, and preseason starting in late July.
