A fantastic night in Cittadella
On July 23, 2021 by Jake IovineA perfect way to start the new season. Earlier, all players and staff were introduced, as well as the new kits that will be worn for the next season!
After another day of training, the team made its way to Piazza Pierobon, in the center of Cittadella. 200 people were allowed to come and sit, as the players made their way on stage. Starting at 9pm, players took photos, interviews, and later on greeted the crowd.
Unfortunately, I do not have any videos or photos taken by me during this event, nor do I have any quotes from players or staff.
The highlight of the night, and the most anticipated announcement, however, was the unveiling of the new kits. Simone Branca, Nicola Pavan, and Andrea Danzi introduced the newest kits made by Mizuno.
The home kit looks very similar to last years one. A majority granata colored kit, with Sirmax once again being the front sponsor. While we haven’t see a close up of the kit yet, it looks similar to last years, and also has the tiny bit of blue on the sleeves and callers.
The yellow kit, wore by Pavan, once again looked similar to the away kit last year. The only difference, a stripe below the crest across the shirt. It didn’t have a lot of noticeable differences compared to last year.
Finally, we have the third kit. This kit will probably not be worn a lot, and it’s a real shame. I really love this kit. The dashed stripes across the shirt is a fantastic feature. The crest is all in granata colors, which I’m a big fan of. Overall, it’s just a very clean kit, front and back.
The newest signing was also unveiled tonight. Orji Okwonkwo is the newest Cittadella player, having been on loan from Bologna last season. From Nigeria, Okwonkwo has MLS experience as he played two season with the Montreal Impact. A striker, who likes to play out on the wing, add to Cittadella’s attacking pair.
A very good day wrapped up. The team will now travel to Lavarone and will get ready for their preseason matches. Tomorrow we should also know the full schedule of the Serie B 21/22 season, all dates and opponents. The fixtures are set to be announced in Ferrara tomorrow at 1pm EST.
