A busy transfer period for Cittadella as the mercato closes

Cittadella finished the final touches today on a busy and eventful transfer window. The club announced the new midfielder signing Davide Mazzocco, a day after Mario Gargiulo said his farewell.

It seemed all set and done as the final day approached on the summer transfer window. Cittadella, who has invested a lot this summer on attacking power alongside many core players of the team, signed one more player on the deadline day.

This transfer came nearly 24 hours after the Granata announced that midfielder Mario Gargiulo has been sold to Lecce. Gargiulo has been a player that produced magic moments throughout the season, and it was hard to see him go. The departure now means that Iori, Proia, and Gargiulo have left the club (Iori retired) and means that three key midfielders are no longer with Cittadella.

Gorini and his staff needed another midfielder to fill in the gap left by Gargiulo. They got their man today as Davide Mazzocco was announced. Born in Veneto, Mazzocco becomes the ninth new player in this Cittadella squad, and plays usually as a central midfielder. He is expected to play along side Andrea Danzi and will push up the field.

Mazzocco spent last season on loan from SPAL at Virtus Entella, playing in 16 matches as the club was relegated to Serie C. Throughout his career, Mazzocco has played 56 times in Serie B, scoring seven goals and assisting six.

The summer transfer market closes for Cittadella after an eventful and busy market. A transformed offense as well as new editions in the midfield, so far things are looking good for the Granata, as they are perfect in all competitions.
