Interview with Domenico Frare
On August 31, 2021 by Jake IovineI had the amazing opportunity to ask a few questions to Cittadella center back Domenico Frare. I asked him about his career starting with Parma, through the low times at Tuttocuoio, to now here at Cittadella.
Here’s what Domenico had to say!
Growing up, how was your time at Parma? Did you get any chances to play with the first team?
“In Parma I spent 4 years when I was a teenager and people and city itself help me grow up. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to play with the first team, but just for a few training sessions.”
In your first pro season at Tuttocuoio, you didn’t play much and sat on the bench for most of the season. How did you get over that and what was your mindset going through that period?
“During my first season as a pro footballer with Tuttocuoio I spent tough moments because I didn’t play too much, and for this I thought about stopping playing so far from home….but fortunately I never gave up and so here I am.”
Can you explain the feeling of scoring your first pro goal against Pro Piacenza? What did it mean to you in that moment?
“The first goal I scored was at Pontedera and I felt very happy because it was unexpected, and because I spent very tough moments in the years before (in Tuttocuoio).”
What was your lowest point in your career, and how did you get through it?
“As I said the lowest point was at Tuttocuoio, and I overcame that thanks to my family and friends around me. They helped me to keep going and to train as hard as I could.”
How has your time been at Cittadella since you arrived in 2018?
“In Cittadella I feel like home because the organization is like a great family. In these years I met some of my best friends in the football world.”
What are the objectives and goals for this upcoming Serie B season?
“Our objective in this season is to impress everyone again and to do our best to reach our dream.”
For you, what was the greatest player you’ve played against?
“For me it was a pleasure playing against international footballers like Balotelli and Boateng.”
What is the best part about being a professional footballer?
“The best part about being a football player is that we have the possibility to achieve our dreams doing what we love the most, it was a childhood dream and I feel very blessed for this.”
A big thank you to Domenico for taking the time to answer these questions in store! A fantastic center back who never gave up on his dream is continuing to push for greatness with Cittadella!
