Important three points for the taking against bottom of the table Pordenone
On September 17, 2021 by Jake IovineCittadella look to rebound after their first loss of the season last Sunday in Cremona. Pordenone are in town for tomorrow’s clash, as they are desperate for their first points of the season.
I Ramarri have lost their first three matches by a combined score of 10-0. Frank Tsadjout, a Milan loanee who played for Cittadella last season, has not unleashed so far this season. Pordenone are coming into this hungry for points, as the pressure mounts on coach Massimo Rastelli.
“As I always say, we must be ready to throw our hearts a little over the obstacle and go a little beyond the difficulties of the moment and as a team and as a group try to start scoring points to move up the ranking.” Rastelli told the press building up towards the match. “We have recovered a bit of all the players so this allows me to have a wide choice based on the type of game, the general condition and some characteristics I may need initially.”
Pordenone went winless against the Granata last season, as they were beaten twice during the season.
For Cittadella, the goal remains the same, and they should have extra motivation for the victory tomorrow night. Sloppy mistakes proved to be the difference against Cremonese. Against a struggling team like Pordenone, there is certainly no room for error as it could be a “trap game”.
Cittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini warns that the Neroverdi should not be taken lightly.
“Tomorrow I expect a difficult game, we are facing a team that is in difficulty, but that has changed coaches and wants to go upstream and react.” Gorini told the media. “I expect something different from a tactical point of view from Rastelli, with Parma it was the first game but now maybe we could see something new, it’s difficult to predict.”
Picking up wins against teams on the lower end of the table was a problem last year for Citta. Losses against eventually relegated Pescara, Reggiana, and Virtus Entella was a blow for the team, as if they had won those matches, they would’ve climbed into the top 4. Only a few points could separate a home playoff match and a huge advantage during the playoffs, and possibly top 2.
It’s no doubt that Cittadella must be winning these matches at home and getting the job done. Gorini’s men have been dominate in recent years over I Ramarri, only losing once out of the six games played.
In front of the home fans in a tricky game, I believe Cittadella will come out on top 1-0, with Mamadou Tounkara coming into the match during the second half, to give the Granata three points at home.
