Reggina vs Cittadella | All you need to know.
On October 31, 2021 by Jake IovineCittadella head south to face Reggina on Monday afternoon, knowing a win would be a step in the right direction.
Two teams heading in rather opposite directions, both Reggina and Cittadella look to build on their respective performances last Thursday. But it’s been a while since Reggina has picked up all three points against the Venetians.
Cittadella have only managed to win once in their last six matches. Two back to back losses to Monza and Parma have put Citta in an interesting position going into November’s international break.
Sitting in 16th place, the Granata have picked up 13 points so far this season. Only 3 of those have came on the road. With league leaders Pisa in sights, points are in need as the international break looms.
Head coach Edoardo Gorini believes that tactically, Cittadella could switch it around. The attitude and personality, though, should stay the same.
“On a tactical level, something can be changed, even if I think that tactics can help but it’s not the solution to the problems.” Gorini discussed to trivenetogoal. “Our identity must not be changed, too that we must add concentration that is perhaps lacking.”
A loss has potential to be a big blow for Cittadella. With Pisa on the horizon, points must start to come on the road and at home.
While Cittadella are still finding their feet at the bottom, Reggina have impressed so far this season. Currently on a three game winning run, Gli Amaranto sit third in Serie B. But that could change, as they could jump to first pending other results. They have yet to lose at home this season, showing off a 3-2-0 record at the Stadio Oreste Granillo.
But against Cittadella, Reggina have only won once in their last nine meetings. Their last win came on May 4th, 2013, when Alessio Campagnacci scored in the final minutes, breaking Cittadella hearts.
Reggina striker Andrey Galabinov has matched Orji Okwonkwo’s goal tally with six goals to his name in eight appearances. Under Alfredo Aglietti, Reggina have shown they can play good football, and will be a difficult test for Cittadella.
Aglietti also points out that Monday is not different from any other matches in Serie B.
“We have to continue to do things we have tried and hit Cittadella in its weak points.” Aglietti pointed out while speaking with TuttoReggina.
“We must not enter the field with a light head, it would be perfect to end the week with another victory.”
