Cittadella to play Lecce in the Coppa Italia Second Round next August.

It’s not official yet, but it’s looking likely Cittadella will be playing their first match of their 2022/23 season against Lecce at the Stadio Via Del Mare.

The new Coppa Italia format which debuted last season includes all Serie A and Serie B teams, as well as a few Serie C teams. According to Cuoregrigiorosso, the fixtures for the 2022/23 edition of the cup can be drawn up. In this case, Cittadella are paired with Lecce, with the Apulian side being the hosts.

Cittadella has been successful against Lecce at the Via del Mare, going undefeated there and even earning a 2-1 win last February, courtesy of goals from Mirko Antonucci and Mamadou Tounkara. Lecce went on to win the league and gain promotion to Serie A.

The second round will take place in early August. Teams who get a pass to the Round of 16 are Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio, Roma, Juventus, Napoli, Milan, and Inter.
