Carlos Embalo joins Cittadella from Belgian side Eupen
On June 24, 2022 by Jake IovineEdoardo Gorini will have another attacker in his disposal as Cittadella announce the signing of Carlos Embalo. The attacker, who can play either as a winger or striker, has played at a handful of clubs in Italy.
Embalo grew up in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau before joining Palermo’s youth academy in 2013. Prior to joining the Sicilian club, Embalo had a spell at Portuguese side Chaves, before moving to the south of Italy.
Until 2019, Embalo was loaned to five different Italian clubs. Going back and forth between Palermo and other Serie B clubs–while playing a couple of Serie A games with his parent club–Embalo was sold to Eupen in the Belgian first tier in the summer of 2019.
With only two goals in 34 games, Embalo was once again loaned to a different team, this time in the Spanish second division to Alcorcón. Embalo didn’t reach the form he saw in Italy, and he returned to Belgium.
Coming off a thigh muscle rupture that has kept him out since December, Embalo hopes to regain his form at Cittadella. Like we’ve seen many times, Cittadella provides a good platform to find form and get consistent games. With Gorini’s attack limited in the final parts of last season, Embalo provides another attacking option that the Granata can use.
