It’s time for some cup action as Serie A side Torino meets Cittadella in the Round of 32 of the Coppa Italia.
This will be Cittadella’s second straight visit to the Round of 32, after falling short against Cagliari last season. For Torino, they’ll be looking to book their place in the Round of 16 after missing out in the last edition. The winner of this match will meet AC Milan at San Siro, which could be a first ever meeting between the Italian champions and Cittadella.
Both Granata‘s in this fixture have not been on their game as of recently. Cittadella are still looking for their first win since September 10th after a goalless draw on the weekend against SPAL, a game where they had majority chances but couldn’t capitalize. Torino have gone through a similar drought, having not won a match in their last five games.
With this dry spell of games for the Venetians, head coach Edoardo Gorini is likely to make changes to his starting eleven in Turin. Starting goalkeeper Elhan Kastrati did not make the trip, so Luca Maniero is the next option between the sticks for Gorini. Kastrati will be joined by Raul Asencio and Romano Perticone, who also did not make the trip to Piemonte.
The furthest Cittadella has gone in this cup tournament has been the Round of 16 during the 2017/18 season, where they met Lazio in the Italian capital. They can match that record with a win against Il Toro and make their second ever trip to San Siro in January.
Torino are heavy favored in this match despite not being in the greatest form. Cittadella will want to make the game difficult and will want to avoid conceding early.
