After a much needed victory in Genova last weekend, it’s a short turnaround for Cittadella as they get set to host Bari on Thursday afternoon.
In a surprise win for Edoardo Gorini’s side at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, where Mirko Antonucci’s second half goal won all three points, the Granata now turn their focus to newly promoted Bari who are having a brilliant start to the season.
Bari have risen all the way to 4th place after 15 matches in Serie B. Despite a strong start, the team from Puglia has gone seven games without a win, drawing five games in a row. Their last victory came almost two months ago in a 2-1 win against Venezia.
One key piece that Bari will be missing is striker Walid Cheddira. The forward has scored 9 goals and 4 assists in just 12 games played in the league, and his form has caught the eye of the Moroccan national team. After Morocco’s Round of 16 win in the World Cup, Cheddira will stay another week, thus missing the game at the Tombolato.
For Cittadella, the win in Genova doesn’t completely overshadow the rough start to the season they’ve been having. The three points, however, seems to have changed the atmosphere and general mood of the team. The momentum going into the match hopes to carry onto the pitch, as Cittadella look to deliver a win in front of their home fans for the first time since September 10th.
