Cittadella host Cagliari in their first match at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato in the new year.
The Venetian side are looking for their first home win since September 10th, while Cagliari look to continue their positive form under Claudio Ranieri.
The Granata snapped Pisa’s 14 match unbeaten run last weekend in a 2-1 away win. Meanwhile in Sardinia, Cagliari got two goals at home to beat Como, and jump into the playoff positions going into the weekend.
For Edoardo Gorini and Cittadella, continuing to gain points and climb out of the relegation zone is the objective for the next upcoming games. Winter market signings have been impactful so far, with Giovanni Crociata scoring his first goal in Pisa last weekend. Latest signing Giuseppe Ambrosino is in the squad for Saturday’s match, just days after coming on loan from Napoli.
Cagliari will be missing key players at the Tombolato. Leonardo Pavoletti suffered an injury last week and has been ruled out for the match. The striker has scored six goals for Cagliari this season. Marco Mancosu is still dealing with an injury picked up a few weeks ago, as well as midfielder Nicolas Viola.
Cittadella have gone more than four months without a home win at the Tombolato. For Cagliari, however, they have been almost as bad on the road, winning only once and obtaining seven points – the second worst in the league.
It’s an action packed Saturday in Serie B, and it’s an important match for both Cittadella and Cagliari in Veneto!
