Raining without goals: Cittadella and Brescia draw 0-0.

Cittadella and Brescia played out for a 0-0 draw on a wet Wednesday night in Veneto.

The rain came down all game on the soggy pitch as both teams looked to threaten goal, but neither could score in the contest. The draw snaps Brescia’s seven game losing streak, while it halts Cittadella’s two game winning run.

It was the visitors that nearly took a shock lead in the 16th minute after Pablo Rodriguez found space in the box, but missed his effort by a matter of inches wide of the post.

Cittadella midfielder Giovanni Crociata almost had his fifth goal in three games, but an open chance in front of goal was wasted over the bar as the midfielder couldn’t get over the ball.

Both sides traded decent opportunities in the first half, with Brescia coming close again at the end of the half with Dimitri Bisoli’s header going wide once again.

It was a scrappy game from Cittadella under the constant rain at the Tombolato. The visitors had another good look in front of goal, this time off the head of Nicolas Galazzi. Once again, the chance sailed just wide of the post, failing to test Elhan Kastrati who did not have to make a single save tonight.

The last chance for Cittadella to grab a late goal came in the 79th minute, when Nicola Pavan’s rebounded shot trickled wide following a decent look from inside the box. The match is the sixth 0-0 draw of the season for the Granata, and it’s their 10th clean sheet of the campaign.

It’s another point closer towards safety for Edoardo Gorini’s side, who now travel to Ferrara on Sunday to take on SPAL, another match with important relegation implications. Brescia jump up to 18th following the draw, and now get set to host Cagliari on the weekend.
