Modena and Cittadella face off in the last match of Matchday 31 in Serie B, with both teams in desperate need of a victory.
Serie B is back after the international break, and the final eight games are in front of us. Both Modena and Cittadella have relegation creeping up by their feet, and a win on Sunday would be a massive boost for their season.
Cittadella have been winless in their last four games, and are coming off a disappointing 0-2 loss at home to Perugia. Things are looking tight for Edoardo Gorini’s side who are hovering just above the drop zone.
Cittadella’s opponents Modena are in a tricky situation. While the promotion playoffs are still in reach, the relegation zone still is not far away for Attilio Tesser’s side. Like Cittadella, Modena are currently in poor form, losing four out of their last six matches. The international break came at the perfect time for both of these sides, who now get ready for a crucial match at the Stadio Alberto Braglia.
The match will be the very last game to be played in this Serie B weekend, and all results will be known to both teams before they play. After results from Saturday, Cittadella sit level on points with 16th place Cosenza, who beat Pisa 1-0 earlier. The Granata are six points above the automatic relegation zone, but the play-out zone is nearing them after other results going against them.
The Granata have failed to beat Modena in their last eight meetings, dating all the way back to 2011. Modena have proved to be a tough test for Cittadella, but a win for Gorini and co will go a long way in this exciting season.
