There’s so much to play for in the final four Serie B games of the season, as promotion-seeking Bari host relegation-danger Cittadella on Monday.
Cittadella will need to give everything in the final matches of the season. The club is staring at a possible relegation to Serie C this summer, which could end their long streak in the second division. They have four games to try and aim as high as they can.
The task is going to be difficult for Edoardo Gorini’s side at the Stadio San Nicola, as a free-flowing Bari team look to eye down 2nd place Genoa, who they trail by six points. A win is needed for both sides to keep their respective aspirations alive.
It’s no secret that Cittadella are in the worst form out of any team in the league at the moment. The Granata have gone winless in their last eight games, gaining only four points and dropping dangerously close to the relegation zone. Goals have been hard to come by for Gorini and co this season, finding the net once in their last four games.
Cittadella’s spirits will be lifted though, thanks to a 1-1 draw on Sunday between fellow relegation rivals SPAL and Perugia, who both stay below Citta in a tight relegation table.
Bari will be heavy favorites on Monday against the Venetian team. The Puglian side led by Michele Mignani have only lost once in their last 12 games, and have not lost a home game since January. Any dropped points for the Biancorossi will diminish their hopes of finishing in the top two, as Genoa and Frosinone look to pull away towards promotion.
The final chapter of the Serie B season begins on Monday, as both Bari and Cittadella desperately need three points at the San Nicola.
