Cittadella Women get narrow win against Ravenna

With Lazio and Napoli winning earlier this weekend, it put pressure on the Granata to get the job done at home. The win keeps them within distance of their promotion rivals.
Caterina Ferin opened the scoring in the 14th minute with Cittadella’s first attack of the game, getting her head on a corner kick that riffled into the net.
The Granata firmly controlled the first half, but still allowing Ravenna to find openings in the Cittadella defense. The score remained only separated by one goal entering halftime.
Cittadella cruised through the second half without much threat to conceding, while nearly doubling their own lead after Martina Pizzolato hit her shot off the post in the 64th minute.
Substitute Sofia Kongouli almost put the game to bed as the clock struck 90 minutes. Cittadella’s leading goalscorer was put into a great position in the box, but her shot was denied by the Ravenna keeper.
It’s coming down to the wire for Salvatore Colantuono’s team as four games remain in the Serie B Femminile season, and still within three points of first place.
