Big offseason decisions coming up for Cittadella
On May 23, 2023 by Jake IovineCittadella clinched safety last Friday, drawing Como 0-0 at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato, which was enough to ensure eight straight seasons in Serie B.
The Granata had to dig deep for survival this season. Edoardo Gorini’s team found themselves in 19th place at New Years, and with the help winter signings like Giovanni Crociata, Giuseppe Ambrosino, and Alessandro Salvi, Cittadella were able to keep their heads above water on the final day.
As the season closes, the offseason will be beginning for sporting director Stefano Marchetti, who will have to make some big decisions this summer.
According to Transfermarkt, the following players have their contracts expired this June 30th:
- Domenico Frare (D)
- Dario Del Fabro (D)
- Romano Perticone (D)
- Daniele Donnrumma (D)
- Simone Branca (M)
- Giovanni Crociata (M)
- Valerio Mastrantonio (M)
- Ignacio Lores Varela (M)
- Enrico Baldini (F)
- Giuseppe Ambrosino (F)
There are key players in the list who need to find a new contract with the club. This list also excludes players with interest from higher clubs, such as Mirko Antonucci and Elhan Kastrati.
Marchetti will have to make some important decisions on who to renew and who to sell. It will also be interesting to see how the Granata can spend their cash this summer, assuming they let go of the players like Antonucci, Kastrati, or Enrico Baldini.
