Cittadella Women awarded win, finishes in third place.

Cittadella Women were awarded an automatic 3-0 win for their final match of the Serie B Femminile season, due to their opponents’ flight being delayed on Sunday morning.

Sassari Torres were supposed to play the Granata on Sunday afternoon in Tombolo, wrapping up their respective seasons in the league.

However, the match was cancelled due to the Sardinians’ flight being delayed early Sunday morning, therefore missing the encounter in Veneto. Cittadella were handed a 3-0 victory instead, moving them into third without having to kick a ball.

Sassari Torres were already safe from relegation going into the final day, as was Cittadella who were looking to secure third place in an exceptional season for Salvatore Colantuono’s side.

There’s still a possibility that the match could be rescheduled or a point deduction for the Sardinian side, depending on what the sporting judge rules soon.
