Cittadella ends preseason with a win.
On August 5, 2023 by Jake IovineIn their final preseason match of the summer, Cittadella came out victorious 4-1 in their friendly against Serie D side Luparense.
Coming back from their two week long retreat in Lavarone, the Granata had one more test match, this time against local side Luparense at the Stadio Gianni Casée di San Martino di Lupari.
Enrico Baldini scored the opening goal minutes before coming off with a muscle strain, according to head coach Edoardo Gorini after the match. Giuseppe Carriero scored the second goal of the match to put Cittadella up by two goals at halftime.
Goals in the second half from Andrea Magrassi and Valerio Mastrantonio gave the Granata four goals to put on the scoreboard, with Luparense eventually netting a penalty as the match ended 4-1 in favor of Gorini’s team.
Only less than a week to go before Cittadella travel to Tuscany to face Serie A side Empoli in the First Round of the Coppa Italia. The following week will see the Granata open their Serie B campaign at home against Reggiana.
