Cittadella enter October international break in playoff position.
On October 9, 2023 by Jake IovineAfter nine games played in the Serie B season, Cittadella will get a two week pause as the October international break begins.
Edoardo Gorini’s side sits in 8th place – the last playoff spot available in the league. The team has tallied 13 points from its opening nine games, having a record of 3-4-2.
It’s three more points than what the Granata had after nine games last season. Since being promoted back to Serie B in 2016, Cittadella has only scored more points after nine games three times: 18 points in 2016/17, 14 points in 2018/19, and 14 points in 2020/21.
Gorini’s side have also improved when conceding the first goal. So far, Cittadella have conceded the first goal seven times this season, and finished those seven games with a 3-2-2 record. Compared to the end of last season, the Granata had a 5-4-13 record when conceding the first goal.
It has certainly been a positive start to the season for Cittadella and Edoardo Gorini. They’ll be back on the pitch on the 21st of October, where Cittadella will travel to face Pisa.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Elhan Kastrati will be with the Albanian national team during the international break. Kastrati was called into the squad for Albania’s crucial EURO 2024 Qualifier against Czechia, as well as a friendly against Bulgaria.
