Cittadella vs Brescia | Match Preview
On November 3, 2023 by Jake IovineMatch: Cittadella vs Brescia – Serie BKT Matchday 12
Date: November 4, 2023 – 14:00 local (9am EST)
Venue: Stadio Piercesare Tombolato – Cittadella
It’s the third match in eight days for Cittadella as they host Brescia at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato on Saturday afternoon.
The Granata are currently on a four game winless streak, losing three in a row in all competitions. Edoardo Gorini’s side gave up back-to-back late goals against Cremonese both in Serie B and the Coppa Italia. Cittadella pushed until the 120th minute on Tuesday in the cup match, but Cremonese prevailed to the Round of 16.
The team returns to league play against Brescia: a side that Cittadella has not lost to in the last 11 attempts. The last time Brescia were victorious against the Granata came in February 2017. Since then, the Venetian side has picked up four wins and seven draws against the Leonessa.
Gorini and co will have an almost complete squad for Saturday, as mentioned in his pre-match press conference.
“We have recovered almost everybody,” Gorini stated. “[Luca] Pandolfi is back. Salvi is called up. Before the Cremonese match I said that he had a small knock, but he rested a little and now he’s ok.”
Conceding the first goal has been a problem for Cittadella this year. After 13 games in all competitions, Gorini’s side has conceded first in 10 of those games, ending with a record of 3-2-5. Cittadella has only scored the first goal in the match twice so far this season.
After being saved from relegation due to Reggina’s financial problems, Brescia has restarted their season better than many expected. Daniele Gastaldello’s side has gotten 13 points after nine games, putting the Leonessa in 12th place entering the weekend. Currently on a two game losing streak, Brescia has only won one of their last seven games.
Brescia has the second lowest goal scored tally in the league, finding the net only seven times this year. It must be noted that Brescia has two games in hand on most teams in Serie B due to their late admission in the league.
Both teams are looking for much-needed wins at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato on Saturday afternoon. This will be the 29th all time meeting between Cittadella and Brescia. The team from Lombardy has the upper hand on Cittadella, holding a 9-13-6 record against the Granata.
