Pandolfi earns Cittadella priceless victory in Palermo after late goal.

Luca Pandolfi’s first Serie B goal came in the 97th minute as Cittadella defeat Palermo in the final minute on Sunday afternoon.

Goalless for majority of the game, it was the Cittadella substitute that headed in the winner at the Stadio Renzo Barbera. This was the Granata‘s second ever win against Palermo, and now second straight victory in Serie B.

Edoardo Gorini’s side were compact in defense, not allowing top striker Matteo Brunori any chances in front of goal. Palermo failed to calculate a shot on goal in the match and lacked a threat in attack.

Luca Pandolfi came on in the second half for Francesco Amatucci. The striker made an impact in the as Cittadella looked for a winning goal.

What seemed like the final play of the match, the Granata found the goal seven minutes into stoppage time. It was Pandolfi who headed in a cross from Lorenzo Carissoni, finding space in the air between the Palermo defenders.

The win is now Cittadella’s fifth of their Serie B campaign, putting the Granata up to 9th place on 19 points going into the international break. This was also the club’s first win against the Sicilian side since 2017.

Gorini’s men have 13 days between now and their next match against Sudtriol, which is scheduled for November 25th at 14:00 local time.
