Cittadella is on the verge of making a historic six match winning streak as the Granata face Modena on Saturday afternoon.
Off of five straight wins, another three points for Edoardo Gorini’s side will see them move to six straight Serie B victories – something that has never been done in club history. The Venetians must overcome Modena at the Stadio Alberto Braglia to make the all-time club record.
Gorini’s men will be confident as they have not lost in league play since late October. The Granata has scored nine goals in the last five games, pushing the team to 6th in the league entering the weekend. A victory in Modena could see Cittadella be as many as 10 points above the play-off line.
Part of Cittadella’s recent success has been thanks to a healthy squad. Gorini confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the entire squad is healthy. The only exception is Enrico Baldini, who is suffering from a muscle problem. Center back Nicola Pavan has played every minute of the season for Cittadella so far, but that streak could be in jeopardy after picking up a small calf injury.
Saturday will be the 24th match in all competitions between these two clubs. Cittadella has not beaten Modena in the last nine tries, with its last winning coming in 2011.
Modena sits right below Cittadella in Serie B, gaining 26 points and in 7th place. I Canarini have lost three out of their last five games at home, but will be looking to bounce back against the Granata after a 2-1 loss against Como last weekend.
Only three games remain in the ‘andata’ rounds of Serie B. Cittadella travel to Emilia-Romagna on the brink of achieving a historic six game winning streak.
