Gorini: “Spezia is a team of great quality.”
On December 22, 2023 by Jake IovineCittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini spoke to the press before Saturday’s match against Spezia, which will be his 100th official match as head coach of the Granata.
Here were some takeaways from the conference.
Squad updates and availability:
“Apart from Salvi who is suspended due to yellow card accumulation, Amatucci is not available due to an injury he got in Modena. Baldini is also in the recovery phase, but the rest is ready to play.”
How do you expect Spezia: a physical or technical side?
“It’s not an aspect of physicality or technically, certainly against Sudtirol it was a more physical game. Physical or technical, I evaluate solutions for every match.
I think Spezia is a very strong team, very technical and they have quality players that are built to go to Serie A. We are facing a team that has struggled but have won two games in a row, so we need to continue on the right path.”
Cittadella has not beaten Spezia in the last six Serie B games…
“The stats say we are facing a team that we haven’t done well with. But I remember against Pisa we had a good historic record against them, and then we lost. These stats are made to be broken, so I expect a difficult match and like always we try to win and repeat what we worked on this week.”
Apart from Mirko Antonucci, who do you fear in the Spezia team?
“Mirko is a guy who came here two years ago who was very attached to the team because he came here looking to find something and he gave it everything. I was happy for him to have the possibility to go to Spezia, but for 90 minutes tomorrow he’s an opponent that we will try to beat and put him in situations where he can’t do what he has done here many times.
But Spezia also have Verde and Esposito who have a lot of quality. Also in midfield they have Bandinelli and Cassata. Yes, they have two players suspended, but like I said they have a great squad of quality.
