Parma is a winnable game, Gorini believes.
On February 9, 2024 by Jake IovineCittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini spoke on the eve of the Granata‘s home match against Parma on Saturday.
Gorini’s side have lost three straight games as they enter the weekend against the league leaders. Cittadella has never beaten Parma in club history, going nine games without a win against I Crociati.
Gorini spoke to the press on Friday morning at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato in anticipation of the Parma match. Here were some key notes in the press conference from the Cittadella boss.
Squad updates:
“Fortunately, all the injuries from last weekend against Brescia aren’t as serious as originally thought. We won’t have Pavan for tomorrow, as well as Amatucci. Giraudo will also not be there.”
On facing Parma:
“We are facing the first-place team. I think in these moments, there’s no better team to face right now. Obviously, it will be a difficult game when you look at the numbers and standings. But even in the last three defeats, I thought our performance was there, so we need to get our belief and determination back. It will be a battle.”
On team training this week, following three straight losses:
“I believe it’s important in football to have balance. It’s clear that we are in a tough moment after it had been going well and getting important results. But now in these tough moments, you need to look at them and analyze them, the players all know this.
The talking is done on the pitch. The games are decided by key moments, we all knew this at the start of the season. Tomorrow we are facing a team that if you give them a half-chance, they will punish you, so we need to try and be perfect.”
On Cittadella never beating Parma in club history:
“Like I said, if you’re not perfect against this team, you risk losing. We said that Parma is not an unbeatable team, they lost two weeks ago in Modena. It’s clear that the level of difficulty is high because we are facing the first place team.”
