Cittadella travel south to Calabria to face Cosenza on Saturday, looking to avoid a ninth straight loss in Serie B.
It has been a dire situation for the Granata in recent weeks. Edoardo Gorini’s side have not picked up any points in the last eight games, dropping outside the playoff zone entering the weekend. Cittadella were denied a draw last weekend against Pisa after a 89th minute winner from the visitors.
Only three points separate 8th and 15th in Serie B with only nine match weeks remaining. Cosenza have gone six games with only one victory, losing their last home match against Calabrian rivals Catanzaro. Fabio Caserta’s side sits three points away from the promotion playoff spots, but only four points adrift from the relegation playout zones.
Saturday afternoon will be the 16th all-time meeting between Cosenza and Cittadella. The Granata have not taken three points from the Stadio Gigi Marulla since March 2020, going three matches without a win in Cosenza.
Cittadella will once again be without center back Nicola Pavan, Gorini confirmed on Friday in his pre-match press conference. Gorini’s side have been on a historic run of eight straight losses, but will be hoping to finally break that streak on Saturday afternoon.
