Cittadella host Modena on Saturday afternoon in the last match before the March international break at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato.
Edoardo Gorini’s side has gone winless in the last nine games, but snapped an eight game losing streak last weekend in a goalless draw against Cosenza. Modena enter the weekend having only won two times in their last 17 league games.
Saturday will be the 25th all-time meeting between Cittadella and Modena. The Granata have not beaten the Emilia-Romagna side in their last 10 meetings, going back to 2011 since their last victory. The last five meetings between the two clubs have ended in draws.
Both teams have been in difficult form in recent weeks, yet are only separated by a single point in the Serie B standings. A victory for either side will likely put them in the playoff zone entering the March international break.
Only four home games remain on Cittadella’s calendar as the regular season comes to its home stretch. Gorini’s side has not seen three points home or away since mid-January, collecting only a point since then. After a positive start in 19 games, the Granata find themselves outside the playoff zone in 10th place, sharing the same amount of points as Sampdoria and Pisa.
Luca Maniero impressed for Cittadella last weekend against Cosenza, making four saves while keeping a clean sheet in his second Serie B start this season. Gorini confirmed in his pre-match conference that Maniero is likely to start ahead of Elhan Kastrati on Saturday following his positive performance.
Gorini also confirmed the absence of Nicola Pavan, Andrea Danzi and Nicholas Saggionetto for the match, who will be missing due to injuries.
