Cittadella return to action after the international break on Easter Monday as the Granata travel to Lecco for the first time in 17 years.
Monday’s match will be Cittadella’s first trip to the Stadio Rigamonti-Ceppi since 2007, where a Serie C encounter between the two clubs ended in a goalless draw. Cittadella’s last victory in Lecco came in 1999 under Ezio Glerean.
Cittadella and Lecco are the two most out-of-form teams in Serie B as of today. The Granata are winless in 10 games, picking up only two points since Jan. 13. Lecco are yet to win a match in 2024, and have collected only one draw since the start of the new year. That run of form has put the Blucelesti in last place of Serie B, being 13 points from safety as relegation looms.
The Granata will be missing some key players entering the match in Lombardy. Head coach Edoardo Gorini confirmed in his pre-match press conference that midfielder Andrea Danzi and fullback Federico Giraudo will miss the match due to injury. Midfielder and captain Simone Branca will also be unavailable due to yellow card suspension. Lecco fullback Davide Guglielmotti will be sitting out for yellow card suspension as well.
Only six points separate 10th place Cittadella from the relegation play-out zone. In contrast, Gorini’s side remains one point away from the promotion playoff zone entering Monday.
Lecco sit at the bottom of Serie B with 21 points after 30 games. Alfredo Aglietti’s side remains 10 points below the relegation play-out zone and 13 points from automatic safety. Eight games remain in the Serie B regular season.
