Gorini wants players to give everything against Como for playoff ambitions

Cittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini spoke to the press before the Granata‘s midweek clash with Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Gorini’s side dropped points against Feralpisalo last weekend which put them a point behind the playoff zone. Three games remain in Serie B with both Cittadella and Como having everything to play for in the hunt for promotion.

Here were some takeaways from Gorini before the team left for Como.

Squad updates:

“We are in the same situation as the Feralpisalo match: Alessandro Salvi still hasn’t recovered, as well as Stefano Negro. Andrea Danzi returned to the training so we will see if he’s available for Sunday.”

On Como:

“I expect a team that will try to play like they have in the past. It’s a team with great players of quality, so we need to try and be good to limit their abilities. The results speak for itself: Como is one of the teams that have been well in the second part of the season. We have to try and limit their individual qualities and their way of playing.”

On the reverse fixture:

“It was a result that came after the big win at the Marassi. At a tactical level, a lot of things have changed that I haven’t re-watched. They changed coaches while we changed our way of playing.”

On the final three games that remain:

“I ask the players to give everything to make playoffs. Football is strange and beautiful, we have to give everything to try and enter the playoffs.

On paper we have three difficult games, but what’s on paper doesn’t matter. What you put on the field and your desire to win matters the most.”
