First phase of Tombolato reconstruction begins for Cittadella

The project was announced two weeks ago when club president Andrea Gabrielli and CEO Mauro Michelini presented the announcement at the end-of-season dinner at La Casa dei Gelsi. The first step–which has already begun–is to widen the playing field to 68 meters, bringing the pitch closer to the east grandstand. The plan is also to create a new irrigation system.
“The pitch was very old and I want to thank those who have worked on it up until now to make it a jewel,” Michelini said. “The new one will be high-quality and high-performance, with a very significant investment.”
A new lighting system, widening of the pitch and the removal of the athletic track are just the first steps of the Tombolato renovations. The club also plans to reconstruct the western grandstand as well as the other sections around the stadium. These projects are scheduled to start in the near future.
Cittadella hopes to have the new Tombolato work completed by August in time for the start of the 2024/25 Serie B season. The club has already been given the green light to play their opening home matches at the Stadio Paolo Mazza in Ferrara, in case of a postponement of the construction. President Gabrielli has request to Lega B the possibility of playing the first two games of the new season away from home.
