Carrarese become final team to be promoted to Serie B
On June 9, 2024 by Jake IovineCarrarese have been promoted to Serie B for the first time in 76 years after defeating Vicenza 1-0 in the Serie C promotion playoff on Sunday.
Antonio Calabro’s side becomes the fourth and final team to be promoted from Serie C, completing the grid for the 2024/25 Serie B season. They will be promoted alongside Juve Stabia, Mantova and Cesena.
Carrarese finished 3rd in Serie C Group B and had to go through the playoffs, where they defeated Perugia, Juventus Next Generation and Benevento before facing Vicenza in the final.
After the first leg in Vicenza ending goalless, former Cittadella striker Mattia Finotto fired I Giallazzurri into the lead in the sixth minute after heading in a cross from Simone Zanon. Carrarese held onto the victory to clinch promoted to the second division.
Cittadella will now be the only team from Veneto to play in Serie B next season, after Venezia were promoted to Serie A last weekend against Cremonese.
