Cittadella confirm D’Alessio signing from Roma
On June 19, 2024 by Jake IovineCittadella have announced the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Francesco D’Alessio from Roma on Wednesday afternoon.
The young midfielder will be joining the Granata on a free transfer, signing a three-year contract with the club. D’Alessio is the third signing of the summer for Cittadella after Edoardo Masciangelo and Simone Tronchin were announced earlier this month.
Born in Rome, D’Alessio came through the Roma Primavera before signing his first professional contract in 2021. D’Alessio played 59 total games for the Primavera in two seasons, helping the team win the 2022/23 edition of the Coppa Italia Primavera.
The homegrown midfielder made his professional debut for Roma last October where he came on as a substitute in the Europa League group stage against Servette. After the match, he made headlines when head coach Jose Mourinho mentioned that D’Alessio convinced the legendary manager to allow young fans waiting outside the training ground to watch the team practice, as D’Alessio himself wasn’t allowed to when he was young.
D’Alessio will also be joining his former teammate Claudio Cassano at Cittadella, who also arrived from Roma last year.
