Cittadella look to kickstart their 2024/25 Serie B campaign as the Granata face Brescia on Matchday 2 at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti.
The two sides will be meeting for the 31st time on Saturday night, which will be the most played fixture in Cittadella’s history. Brescia defeated Cittadella for the first time in twelve attempts last February in a 2-0 win.
Saturday will be the 16th meeting at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti from both sides. Cittadella have only beaten Brescia twice at the Rigamonti, with the last victory coming in the 2018/19 season.
The Granata will be looking to score their first points of the season after being defeated in stoppage time against Salernitana last weekend. Brescia have won their last two home games, including a win in the Coppa Italia against Venezia and a late win against Palermo.
Cittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the team will be without midfielder Simone Tronchin and defender Stefano Negro, while forward Luca Pandolfi has returned to the squad list. Former Cittadella and now current Brescia head coach Rolando Maran confirmed that striker Gabriele Moncini will miss the match on Saturday.
2024 has not been a friendly year for Gorini’s side. Cittadella have only managed to win twice in league play since the start of the new year, with their last win coming on April 6 against Reggiana.
