Cittadella sets unwanted home record after Frosinone defeat
On September 28, 2024 by Jake IovineCittadella has gone 11 home games without a win, making it the longest streak in club history following Friday’s 1-2 defeat to Frosinone.
It’s been a 2024 to forget so far for the Granata as they are 1-5-6 at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato since the start of the new year. Edoardo Gorini’s side has not won at home since Jan. 13, going 11 games without a win at the Tombolato.
This is currently the longest streak in professional club history without a home win, setting an unwanted record as Cittadella loom over the relegation zone.
The longest Cittadella had gone without a home win prior to Friday’s game was in 2008. Under Claudio Foscarini, the Granata went 10 games without a Tombolato win between the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons. The streak included a Serie C play-off, a Coppa Italia match and the first eight home matches of the new Serie B season.
In addition to the home struggles, Cittadella has collected 20 points from 26 games in 2024: the lowest out of any Serie B club, excluding newly promoted and relegated teams.
Gorini’s side will be looking to break their home troubles on Oct. 19 against Cosenza.
