Cittadella rallies to beat Bari, keeps survive hopes alive

Alessandro Dal Canto’s men knew a loss against Bari paired with Brescia avoiding defeat would relegate Citta to Serie C for the first time in ten years.
The club looked to be heading for relegation in the first half after Andrea Favilli opened the scoring for the visitors in the 31st minute. The Granata went into halftime starring at automatic relegation due to other results around the league.
But second half substitutes Simone Rabbi and Luca Pandolfi both got on the scoresheet in the comeback win, with the former scoring seconds after the second half restart.
In the 66th minute, Cittadella took the lead after Riccardo Palmieri headed a cross from Alessandro Salvi into the bottom corner.
Dal Canto’s side made sure of the three points with nine minutes remaining. Rabbi was involved once again to tee up Pandolfi in the box. The team’s leading goal scorer recorded his eighth goal of the campaign to seal the victory.
The win keeps Cittadella in 19th place, but the club moves within a point of the relegation play-out zone. The Granata will host Salernitana on May 13 knowing a win will likely guarantee themselves a play-out spot.
