Just days after Marco D’Alessandro stole all three points from Cittadella, the Granata finds themselves in need of a positive result. But as it turns out, Parma might be in a deeper hole.
Parma are winless in their last six matches, despite being one of the favorites to be promoted to the top flight this season. Currently, the Emilia-Romagna based team sits 15th in Serie B, picking up only 10 points from their first nine matches.
Similar to last season when they were in Serie A, closing out games is still a problem for Parma. I Crociati have given up three goals so far this season after the 85th minute. After seven points from their opening three games, Parma has slid all the way near the relegation drop-off.
Italian goalkeeping legend Gianluigi Buffon, who joined Parma last summer, will play his first ever match against Cittadella. In addition, Parma has never been defeated by the Granata in their history.
That could all change on Thursday night, as both teams are desperate for a win. A loss for either team could start ringing alarm bells within the club.
