Mattioli, age 23 from Reggio Emilia, started his career at Reggiana’s Primavera, before transferring to Inter Milan’s youth set up. He then went on loan at Renate, Cuneo, and Südtirol before finally settling at Modena in the summer of 2019. Throughout his time at Modena, Mattioli played 40 matches, assisting four goals in the process. Despite an injury in the beginning of the 20/21 season that saw him miss half of the season, Mattioli finished strong and played 15 out of 22 matches in the second half of the campaign. Mattioli is also a former youth Italian national team player, having played with the U16’s all the way until the U19’s.
With the departure of Luca Ghiringhelli, Cittadella has been in need of a solid right back. This signing is what the team needed, as it provides more defensive depth. As it stands, Mattioli and Cassandro will be the right backs, unless we can sign another one.
With the arrivals coming in, there is also action on the departing side. Agostino Camigliano, who has been with Cittadella for five seasons, will be joining recently relegated side Reggiana. Last season, the center back played 20 matches and had one assist during one of those games. Marco Rosafio will also be leaving the granata after two seasons. Cittadella decided not to renew his contract and is now free to sign with any club. The attacker didn’t score many goals but did assist on a few, having nine assists in a Cittadella shirt.
We should know who we are playing on August 21st, as the fixture release dates are set. All fixtures for the Serie B 21/22 season will be published on July 24th. The ceremony will take place at the Piazza Trento e Trieste in Ferrara, the home city of SPAL. It will start at 7pm local time (1pm EST) and will be broadcasted by Lega B.
