The first signing of the summer: Cittadella acquire Raul Acensio from Lecce
On June 21, 2022 by Jake IovineAfter many rumors, the club made it official today. Raul Acensio is a Cittadella player, signing for the club on a two year deal with an option for a third.
The 24 year old forward grew up in Castellón, Spain and came through the ranks of Burriana. He moved to Italy at the age of 16, signing for Genoa and playing for the reserves.
From 2015 through 2021, Acensio bounced around from different clubs in Italy. During the 19/20 season, Acensio scored 7 goals in 15 matches with Cosenza. Last summer, the striker moved back to Spain and signed for Alcorcón in the Spanish second division.
His period at Alcorcón didn’t last long, as the club terminated the contract halfway during the season. It was found that Acensio was driving at 160 km/h while having coffee in his hand. That winter, Acensio moved back to Italy to join Lecce.
After not starting many games at Lecce, Acensio is now hoping to regain form at Cittadella. The announcement is the first official signing the club has made this offseason, adding much needed strength to the attack.
