Cittadella sign Giuseppe Carriero, Cuppone goes on loan | Transfer News
On July 18, 2022 by Jake IovineCittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini has a new midfielder at his disposal, as the club made it official on Monday that Giuseppe Carriero will be a Cittadella player for the 2022/23 season.
Having last played at Avellino in Serie C, the 24 year old midfielder has also represented Casertana, Parma, Monopoli, and Catania so far in his career. Last year with Avellino, Carriero made 32 appearances in all competitions, mostly playing as a center midfielder. He has yet to make an appearance in Serie B, but now looks in prime position for his second tier debut with Cittadella.
It was a busy day in the transfer market for the Granata, as the club also confirmed the loan spell for forward Luigi Cuppone. The forward will be spending next season in Serie C at Pescara. The Abruzzian club have an option to buy at the end of his loan contract in June 2023.
Cuppone has only made 6 appearances with Cittadella since arriving in the summer of last year. After a brilliant loan spell at Potenza for the second half of last year–bagging 8 goals and 2 assists in 14 games–Cuppone will get an entire season to help Pescara win promotion into Serie B.
