Cittadella vs Pisa | All you need to know.
On November 6, 2021 by Jake IovineCittadella hope to end on a positive note heading into the international break. Pisa are hoping to end their four game winless run.
Ask any Italian football fan what they’ll be doing on Sunday night. Most will say they’ll be watching AC Milan vs Inter. But for us Cittadella fans, it’s a different story.
Kicking off at similar times, Cittadella are indeed playing on the same night as the derby in Milan. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’ll be a great match at the Tombolato!
The visiting Pisa have not won a game in the last month. Late goals have been a problem for the Nearzzurri not only this year, but from previous seasons.
Despite their struggles in the final minutes, they are making headlines. At the start of the weekend, Pisa were top of Serie B, registering 22 points in 11 games. With only one loss, Luca D’Angelo’s side has fans believing in an unpredictable promotion to Serie A.
The man who has made them believe is Lorenzo Lucca. The 21 year old striker already has six goals to his tally this season. After joining Pisa last summer, Lucca has already brought attention to Juventus and Milan in a potential signing.
In a hard fought match last Monday, Cittadella return home to cap off the weekend. In a one of game against the league leaders, anything could happen.
A big argument on Monday saw head coach Edoardo Gorini shown a red card for the second time this season. Gorini will now have to watch the match from the stands. Assistant coach Roberto Musso will take over for this match.
Cittadella goalkeeper Elhan Kastrati, who had a man of the match performance against Reggina, believes Pisa are more than Lorenzo Lucca.
“It’s all of Pisa that must be studied.” Kastrati discussed with Il Mattino di Padova. “I didn’t expect them to be there, but it demonstrates how difficult Serie B is: a tournament in which the favorites may struggle and whoever you did not expect is at the top.”
The Granata will also be looking to improve their home record. After a strong start at the Tombolato, they haven’t been able to replicate the same winning success. With the last home win coming on September 18th, Cittadella are craving for a good result.
If you look at the upcoming fixtures, Cittadella certainly have an upper hand compared to their Serie B rivals. The big teams like Monza, Parma, Lecce, and Benevento have already play Citta earlier this season. This means Cittadella has a quote on quote “easier run-in” compared to others. Big points are certainly on the table, and it’s up to the players and coaches to seize the moment.
But first, Pisa stand in their tracks. Before the November international break, one more stop before a much needed rest.
