Cittadella vs Arzignano: The most in-form teams meet in Monday night clash
On October 19, 2026 by Jake IovineCittadella hosts regional rivals Arzignano on Monday night in a rematch of last year’s playoff first-round tie.
Both teams enter the day as the most in-form sides in the league. Arzignano has won four of its last five games, sitting fifth in the table on 17 points. Cittadella will be looking to maintain its five-point lead in first as the Granata have also won four of their last five outings.
Despite its 8-0-1 start, Cittadella head coach Roberto Musso insists there’s still room for improvement for his team.
“The numbers say we are doing something important, but the details always make the difference,” Musso said in his pregame press conference. “Especially in tomorrow’s match, we have to be more focused when we have the ball to be ready.
“The growth in this team, especially in these types of games, is understanding when to force a play or not. If we do these things, we’ll have a great game. But if we are stubborn in breaking through immediately, we will certainly find difficulties.”
After suffering its first defeat at the start of the month, Cittadella returned to winning ways in a 2-0 road victory against Novara last Saturday. Similarly, Arzignano returned to the winning column by defeating Juventus Next Gen at home last weekend.
Monday will be the first of four games in a 13-day span for Musso’s side against top-six teams. After facing Arzignano, the team will play Brescia next Saturday in a promotion six-pointer before facing La Leonessa again in the Coppa Italia Serie C on Oct. 28. Cittadella will then host Treviso on Nov. 1.
With two games against Brescia on the horizon, Musso is not getting distracted by the looming trip to Lombardy, admitting all focus will be on Arzignano.
“There’s no thoughts beyond this match,” he said. “This is a very complicated game as we are playing the most in-form team in the league.
“Afterward, to the joy of many, we can start talking about Brescia for the first time.”
