After stealing a late draw in Bari, Cittadella return home to play their Venetian rivals Venezia on the 4th Matchday of the Serie B season.

There’s one more match to be played before the league pauses for the international break. Cittadella face Venezia on Sunday night, a team they haven’t beaten in their last six tries.

After sneaking into the playoffs last season, Venezia will look to continue their great start to this season against the Granata. Paolo Vanoli’s side have started the season with two wins from three, and have yet to be defeated in league play.

Edoardo Gorini’s side will be looking to build off a great performance against Bari on Wednesday. Cittadella had a total of 17 shots and 5 of them being on target in Bari, with their equalizer coming late in the match from Nicola Pavan. The Granata have started the year brightly despite losing a star forward Enrico Baldini to injury.

Sunday night could also see the debut of Ahmed Sanogo, who was signed for Cittadella on deadline day. The 18 year old forward from Vis Pesaro has never made an appearance in Serie B, but that could change under the Tombolato lights.

The last time these two teams met at the Tombolato was in August 2022, ending in a 1-1 draw under intense rain. Mirko Antonucci put the Granata on the board in the 70th minute, before Michael Cuisance equalized for Venezia 15 minutes later. Cittadella lead the all-time series against the Arancioneroverdi with 6 wins, 8 draws, and 4 losses.
