Four days after Cremonese defeated Cittadella in Veneto, the two teams meet once again in the Coppa Italia Round of 32.
This time the match will be played in Cremona. The winner of the match will face Serie A giants Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in the Round of 16.
Cittadella has not reached the Round of 16 in this competition since the 2017/18 season, where the Granata fell to Lazio. Cremonese was the surprise package of last season’s Coppa Italia, making it all the way to the semifinals while defeating the likes of Napoli and Roma.
Last Friday night, the two teams met at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato, where Cremonese was victorious thanks to a late winner from Franco Vazquez. Edoardo Gorini’s side will be looking for revenge following the defeat on Matchday 11 of Serie B.
Gorini has never beaten the Grigiorossi in his managerial career, losing all three games. Cittadella has not beaten Cremonese in over three years, with their last win coming in September 2020. A chance to play Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the Italian capital is to play for on Tuesday afternoon.
