Gorini: “Records are meant to be broken.”

Cittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini spoke to the media before Saturday afternoon’s clash with Cosenza.

Here were some key takeaways from Gorini’s press conference.

On the squad availability:

“Sanogo unfortunately got the flu last night, he’s been at home. So I don’t know if he’ll be back in time. Fortunately for the rest everyone is available and ready.”

On the lineup and formation:

“The lineup changes depending on the opponent and how I see the guys in training during the week. I don’t think there’s a ‘default’ formation, and I’m happy that everyone is available to play because we understand the importance of changes. Tomorrow there’s this possibility (of changes).”

On a possible five game winning streak:

“These records are meant to be broken. Tomorrow we have to be ready and try to get the record. Obviously tomorrow will be hard because we are facing a team in a difficult moment but with a lot of quality. Until the last two matches, they were the surprise of the league. We can’t underestimate the opponent.”

Would you consider Cosenza, who are six points below you, an early “play-off” battle?

“If you want to say that, then yes. The standings tell you that. We are in the play-off zone and want to stay here for as long as possible.

We have to face Cosenza like we would playing the strongest team at the moment. If we get far ahead or complete the ‘salvezza’, then maybe we can talk about the other things. But right now we have to focus only on Cosenza.”

What do you expect from this Cosenza side?

“They’re a team built from the base and that has many ideas to play with effectiveness. It’s a team that until recently had been playing very well, like I said. They’re a squad that has improved this year, I remember their victory in Palermo. So they are a team with ideas and are a different squad we will face, in respect to the others.”

Cittadella host Cosenza at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato at 14:00 local time for Matchday 16 of the Serie B season.
