Cittadella travel to Reggio Emilia to face Reggiana on the 32nd Matchday of the Serie B season at the Mapei Stadium.
The Granata are still winless since January after extending their winless streak to 11 games in a 1-1 draw against Lecco. Edoardo Gorini’s side have dropped outside the playoff zone and trail 8th place by three points.
Reggiana sit a point clear of Cittadella entering Saturday’s match in Reggio Emilia. Alessandro Nesta’s side have lost only once in the last 14 games, putting them within reaching distance of the playoff zone. Reggiana completed a 2-3 comeback on Monday against promotion-chasing Venezia after trailing 2-0 after 33 minutes.
Saturday will be the 14th all-time meeting between Reggiana and Cittadella. The Granata hold the series record with five wins, six draws and two losses against the Emilia-Romagna club. The two clubs met each other in the first match of this season, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Cittadella.
Gorini confirmed in Friday’s pre-match press conference that forward Filippo Pittarello will be unavailable for the match after picking up an injury on Monday against Lecco. Captain Simone Branca will return to the squad following his one game suspension. Reggiana midfielders Domen Crnigoj and Elvis Kabashi will be sidelined for the hosts this weekend.
Nesta’s side have dropped the second most amount of points in Serie B from winning positions. Reggiana have lost 18 points after leading, while Cittadella have dropped 14 points from the same position.
Cittadella have only won three road games this season, with their last coming on Dec. 2 against Feralpisalo. Reggiana have struggled at home, managing only two wins from 15 home games this season.
