Cittadella host Ascoli on Saturday afternoon at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato as six games remain in Serie B.
The Granata ended their 11 game winless streak last weekend against Reggiana, winning 0-2 at the Mapei Stadium courtesy of goals from Luca Pandolfi and Simone Branca. The win puts Cittadella two points adrift from the play-off zone with 42 points.
Ascoli held promotion contending Venezia to a goalless draw at the Stadio Cino e Lillo Del Duca last weekend, but Massimo Carrera’s side still remains in the relegation zone with six games remaining. I Picchi stand three points from automatic safety in a tightly contested relegation battle.
Cittadella have gone five games without defeat and without conceding against Ascoli. Edoardo Gorini’s side will be looking for their first home win since Jan. 13, where the Granata defeated Palermo 2-0.
Gorini expects a similar and typical game against Ascoli on Saturday as he told the media on Friday morning. Cittadella will be without several players for their clash with Ascoli, including forwards Filippo Pittarello and Enrico Baldini. Defender Stefano Negro and midfielder Francesco Amatucci will also miss the match, Gorini confirmed in his conference.
Ascoli will be without midfielder and captain Giuseppe Bellusci for the match at the Tombolato after receiving a red card last weekend. Bellusci has played 26 matches for Ascoli this season. Ascoli will also be missing top scorer Pedro Mendes, who is still recovering from an injury. The Portuguese forward has scored 11 goals for I Picchi this season.
