Gorini extends contract as Cittadella manager for another season

Cittadella confirmed on Tuesday that Edoardo Gorini will continue for another season as head coach of the club.

Gorini has been head coach of the Granata for the last three seasons, guiding the club to 11th, 15th and 14th finishes in Serie B. After talks between him, sporting director Stefano Marchetti and President Andrea Gabrielli this past month, the club confirmed that Gorini will be in-charge of a fourth straight season.

The Venice-born coach was appointed three years ago after Roberto Venturato’s six-year spell, and has since gone on to manage a 36-42-42 record for Cittadella. The club has yet to reach the promotion play-offs since Gorini’s takeover. Despite a strong showing of the previous season–which the club reached as high as fourth in the league–Gorini’s side could only claim two victories in the latter part of the campaign, finishing 14th on 46 points.

With Cittadella confirming the re-appointment, Gorini remains as the longest current serving manager in Serie B at two years and 11 months.

Before becoming manager, Gorini worked alongside Venturato as assistant coach from 2014, until he was promoted as head coach in the summer of 2021. Gorini also spent a large part of his career playing for Cittadella, appearing in 82 games in all competitions across six seasons. The former center back was apart of the 07/08 Cittadella squad, who achieved promotion to Serie B for only the second time in history.
