All eyes on the last game of the Serie B game-week as Perugia host Cittadella in Umbria.
Similar to last weekend, both teams enter the match in places they don’t want to be. Cittadella are currently having their worst start to a season after 10 games since their promotion to Serie B in 2016, sitting in 13th place on 11 points. Perugia on the other hand sit rock bottom of Serie B with 7 points, but picked up an impressive 3-2 win against Reggina last Saturday.
Cittadella’s five season streak of making playoffs was snapped last season and Perugia were one of the teams to grab a ticket for a chance at promotion. Life under Fabrizio Castori hasn’t been off to the greatest start, but a win against the Granata can boost Perugia out of last place.
Cittadella’s struggles so far this season has been scoring goals. Another team that’s having trouble finding the net? Perugia. Both teams have each scored eight goals this season, the lowest in Serie B. Cittadella have found the back of the net only twice in their last seven matches, and have slowed down dramatically after a fiery start to the season. Perugia have had a hard time not only scoring goals, but defending as well. Castori’s team have given up 16 goals in their opening 10 games, which is one of the reasons wins have been hard to come by this season.
The Umbrian side will have something greatly to look forward to this Sunday afternoon. After a long wait, the new curva for the Perugia supporters has been completed and ready for use against Cittadella.
A turning point can happen for either team in this fixture. Three points can be a massive step for one team, while a loss can be a panicking sign. There’s a lot to play for on Sunday afternoon at the Stadio Renato Curi.
