Cittadella vs Palermo | All you need to know.

On March 10, 2023 by Jake Iovine

For the first time since 2018, Cittadella host Palermo at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato for the 29th Matchday of Serie B.

Only ten games remain in this tight Serie B season, and only four points separate Cittadella and Palermo. The Granata have small breathing space at the bottom, holding a five point lead over nearest relegation rivals Venezia. Palermo are currently chasing a playoff spot, who are two points behind 8th place Parma going into Saturday.

Giovanni Crociata has given Cittadella fans a lot to hope for in the second half of the season, scoring six goals and providing one assist since arriving in January. However, the Empoli loanee is still doubtful for the weekend, after suffering a minor injury last week in a match against Brescia.

By far Palermo’s most important player this year has been Matteo Brunori. The striker is the second highest goalscorer in the league, tallying 13 goals and assisting three for the Rosanero. Brunori accounts for nearly 43% of Palermo’s goals this season, however he has not found the net in his last five games for the club.

While Palermo might be well clear of relegation, Cittadella still have work to do in order to stay up. After one point in their last two games, Saturday is another opportunity at home to collect three points, and get one step closer to safety.

Both teams will be looking for three important points as the season comes to the home stretch.
