It’s crunch time in Serie B as Cittadella travel south to Calabria to face Cosenza in a massive match with relegation implications.

The Granata are winless in their last six games, and are on the brink of falling back into the relegation zone this weekend as they face a Cosenza team who are excellent form, winning four of their last six games.

Only six games remain in this tight Serie B campaign, and Cittadella will be in for a long ride. Edoardo Gorini’s team still have promotion contenders Bari, Genoa, and Südtirol in their remaining games. This match in Cosenza is critical for Cittadella, who can’t afford to lose another game to a relegation rival.

It was only a few weeks ago where Cosenza looked dead and buried in last place. A resurgence of results, including a 0-1 win against league leaders Frosinone have pulled William Viali’s men out of the automatic drop zone, and are level on points with Cittadella going into the weekend.

Part of the resurgence has been lockdown defense. Cosenza have not conceded a goal in four games, keeping four straight clean sheets and earning 10 out of a possible 12 points. Their remaining games are almost as challenging as Cittadella’s, where they’ll have to face multiple relegation rivals including Cittadella, Perugia, Brescia, Venezia, and even Ascoli.

The Granata have taken a dip in form following such a good start to the new year. It’s clear that Gorini and co cannot afford to lose again this weekend, as both teams get ready for a massive match at the Stadio Gigi Marulla.
