Two teams heading in opposite directions meet at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato on Saturday afternoon, where both are in search of three valuable points.
It’s do-or-die time for Edoardo Gorini’s Cittadella, who will be feeling the pressure this weekend thanks to Brescia’s win against Reggina, putting them within two points behind the Granata. Cittadella are winless in their last seven games, and have dropped into dangerous territory entering the final five games of the season.
On the other side of the table, Genoa are on the brink of promotion to Serie A after one season in the second tier. Holding a six point lead over 3rd place Bari, Il Grifone have pulled together an impressive ten game unbeaten streak, having not lost a game since early February.
A win at the Tombolato will put them one step closer to promotion, and alongside them will be 3,000 Genoani in attendance.
Scoring has been a problem for Cittadella, with the Granata finding the net a total of one time in their last four games. With a hard set of fixtures remaining – including the likes of Genoa, Bari, and Südtirol – any result at the Tombolato will be seen as a success from Edoardo Gorini’s men.
Genoa can’t afford to let down as well, as they still have to face Südtirol, Frosinone, and Bari on the final matchday that could be a decider on who gets second place in Serie B.
A win for either side will be a massive three points. You can expect a brilliant atmosphere at the Tombolato, as both Cittadella and Genoa battle it out on Matchday 34.
